WELCOME!
....
| You've probably seen the newspaper ads that "hype" Spinal Decompression Therapy telling you to call some unknown doctor's office in order to receive a free report in the mail. We do not believe anyone should have to do that! Marketing companies have misled patients and doctors alike with false claims like “NASA” invented spinal decompression or that their particular spinal decompression machine is magical and the doctor just has to push a button. |

Dr. Mark K. Dollinger |
Our website will give you the complete facts about Spinal Decompression Therapy including clinical trials that support its effectiveness. We list the most common conditions in which spinal decompression is beneficial and those conditions in which it is not appropriate.
And we will also tell you the approximate treatment cost. We do that so you will be better able to make an informed decision about what you should do for your condition and because our fees are a fraction of what some other clinics charge.

TESTIMONIALS
“Before I came to Dr. Dollinger’s office I had such severe pain down my legs and in my back that I couldn’t function at all. I’ve had four back surgeries and was always in pain. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t do anything. It used to take me several minutes just to get out of bed. After my spinal decompression treatment I’ve had no pain down my legs. I’m able to walk around my neighborhood and I’m able to do my household chores. While I still have some slight pain in my back, it’s nowhere as severe, and my whole body feels so much better. This is the best I’ve felt since I moved to Chico 17 years ago. I have highly recommended spinal decompression with Dr. Dollinger. I feel so much better all the way around. ”

”I was having constant low back pain which would radiate down my leg all the way into my foot. The bottom of my left foot would also feel numb. At night I was unable to lie on my back and the pain would wake me up when I tried to turn in bed. During the day it was hard to walk and I was limping. The pain was constant and affected my daily routine. Last year I had 8 weeks of Physical Therapy and had some injections but I was continuing to get worse. I was in pain all the time. I needed to get some relief so I decided to try spinal decompression. My spinal decompression treatment with Dr. Dollinger has just been amazing. I didn’t think it could be done. The spinal stabilization exercises have been incredibly helpful too. Now I can walk my dog again, get into my car, turn in bed and raise myself with out pain. I am relatively pain free, 100% better. I would recommend it to anyone and I tell people about it all the time.”

“I’ve been very, very pleased with my treatment. I don’t really know how to express it. I got my life back again. Before my spinal decompression treatments with Dr. Dollinger, I wasn’t able to really function. I couldn’t walk very far and I avoided bending and lifting because of my pain. At times the pain would be so bad I’d get nauseous and I would have to lie down. I saw an orthopedist who took x-rays and a MRI, he said there really wasn’t anything he could do for me except give me pain medication and that I wasn’t going to get any better, only worse. I really couldn’t do much because of my pain and I was very frustrated. A friend of mine had good results with spinal decompression and recommended I give it a try. Since my treatment with Dr. Dollinger there has been tremendous improvement, like I said, I got my life back. I highly recommend Dr. Dollinger’s spinal decompression treatment.”

"I've suffered from lower back pain for quite a few years. Being over 60 years of age, I didn't look forward to this kind of immobilizing suffering for decades to come. After looking into a Spinal Decompression program at another clinic and the program that Dr. Dollinger offered, I chose Dr. Dollinger and his staff to take care of my aching back. After completing Dr. Dollinger's recommended sessions on the Triton DTS equipment, along with electrical muscle stimulation and patient education on self-care techniques, I no longer have the debilitating pain in my lower back that kept me from sitting or standing for moderate periods. After many years of wondering if I would ever be able to regain the mobility to enjoy physical activities again, I anticipate being able to take long walks in the woods with my grandchildren and dust off my clubs and play some golf soon."

FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS |
What is Spinal Decompression Therapy? |
|
Spinal
decompression therapy is FDA cleared and has a high success rate for pain
associated with herniated or bulging discs...even after failed surgery. It
is a non-surgical, traction based therapy for the relief of back and leg
pain or neck and arm pain. During this procedure, by cycling through distraction
and relaxation phases and by proper positioning, a spinal disc can be isolated
and placed under negative pressure, causing a vacuum effect within it.
|
|
How does this negative pressure affect an injured
disc? |
| During spinal
decompression therapy, a negative pressure is created within the disc.
Because of that negative pressure, disc material that has protruded
or herniated can be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc, and
permit healing to occur. |
|
|
What
system is used for this purpose
and is the doctor certified in spinal decompression therapy
? |
|
After a significant
amount of research, our office chose the Triton®
DTS system manufactured by
the Chattanooga Group, the premier manufacturer of physical medicine equipment.
More importantly, we have the brand new 2006 computerized head which
is the most sophisticated and technologically advanced unit in the world.
No office - and we do mean NO OFFICE - has more "state of the art" spinal
decompression systems,
no matter how many whistles and bells it may have.
In fact, the new
2006 Triton®
head is so revolutionary that
it won the 2006 Australian Design Award in the "Medical and Scientific" category.
We also selected the Triton®
DTS systems due to their ability
to treat discs in both the neck and the low back.
In regard to clinical skills, Dr. Dollinger has completed the Kennedy Decompression Technique course work and passed the qualifying examination to achieve the status of “Certified Spinal Decompression Practitioner” in spinal decompression therapy.
Dr. Dollinger’s certification in spinal decompression treatment assures you that our office is completely dedicated to providing our patient’s with the highest quality care.
Far too many doctors place to much emphasis on the type of decompression systems they use and too little emphasis on developing their clinical skills. High success rates don’t occur by pushing a button on a machine, they occur because of the skill and expertise of the doctor.
|
|
How
is Spinal Decompression Therapy different from regular
traction? |
| The award winning
Triton®
computer is the key. It controls
the variations in the traction pull allowing for spinal decompression and
eliminating muscle guarding that is typical in conventional traction devices.
The preprogrammed patterns for ramping up and down the amount of axial
distraction allows for higher levels of spinal decompression and disc
rehydration. The Triton DTS table allows for multiple patient positions, unlike many other spinal decompression systems that are limited to only one patient position |
 |
|
Who
can benefit from Spinal Decompression
Therapy? |
 |
Anyone who
has back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may
be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include herniated,
protruding or bulging discs, degenerated discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica or radiculopathy (pinched nerves). |
|
Are
there medical studies that document the effectiveness of Spinal Decompression
Therapy? |
| Yes!
One study documented by MRI up to 90% reduction
of disc herniations in 10 of 14 cases and other studies reported that the
majority of ruptured disc patients achieved "good" to "excellent" results
after spinal decompression therapy.

here if you would like to review the studies
yourself. |
|
|
Are
there conditions where Spinal Decompression Therapy is not indicated?
|
|
Spinal
decompression therapy is not recommended for pregnant women, patients who
have severe osteoporosis, severe obesity or severe nerve damage.
Spinal surgery
with instrumentation (screws, metal plates or cages) is also
contraindicated. However, spinal decompression therapy after bone fusion
or non-fusion surgery, can be performed. |
|
Are
the sessions painful, how many will be needed and what is the
cost? |
| In almost all cases, the treatments are completely painless. In fact, some patients fall asleep during the spinal decompression session.
The number of sessions needed and your specific treatment plan will be determined by the doctor after your examination.
Our customary fee for each spinal decompression session is only $100 which means the total cost will be a small fraction of the $5,000+ amounts that some other doctors are charging.
We also offer
CareCredit that will allow you to finance the entire cost and make 6
monthly payments with no interest. Or if you need more time, you
can set up repayment for up to 60 months. To apply for financing online
and get instant approval in advance, just go to CareCredit.com.

Do
most patients receive therapy and rehabilitative exercises in addition to
Spinal Decompression Therapy? |
 |
To reduce
inflammation and assist the healing process, supporting structures are treated
with passive therapies (ice/heat/muscle stimulation), chiropractic adjustments
(as indicated) and/or active rehabilitation in order to strengthen the
spinal musculature.
While the most dramatic changes in patient’s pain are a result of the spinal decompression, there is almost always an underlying muscular and/or postural problem which also needs to be addressed. It is part of our treatment plan to identify these problems and teach our patients self-care measures to ensure the best overall outcome. |
|
How
do I get started? |
| We want to make it easy for you to learn if you are a candidate for spinal decompression therapy. Just call our office to arrange a consultation with Dr. Dollinger.
Please remember to bring any MRI reports so the doctor can review them and best advise you about your treatment options. |
